Select self-portraits from the last half a year or so, maybe up to a year

If there's one thing I love doing, its painting/drawing self portraits. I can't get enough of it. Some call me egotistical (a good bit of truth to that), but I've got to keep the Facebook picture looking fresh. I recently counted the number of all of the self portraits I have done since I started doing them 2 and a half years ago. Right now, I'm up to 258 (there may be a few I'm missing, I'm just trusting the count of computer files and sketchbook pages and whatever is lying around), so I think I'll share some of my favorites.

Most of the time I only spend one session on any given portrait (from half an hour to 5 hours typically, usually 1 or 2), and I usually do it from a mirror instead of a photo. I stop drawing when I feel it conveys what it needs to convey, (be it form, lighting, mood, or color) or whenever I realise that the drawing was bad to start with and I leave the piece to rot.

Typically I work in Photoshop CS3 with the Wacom intuos3 tablet(mine's a 6"x8")

August 2009, oils, alla prima (2 hours) from when I had basically a private class about oils.

November 2009, Photoshop. I know I've posted this before, but since I like it still and I'm going in order of creation...

Did this one back in December 2009 (Photoshop), definitely a case of breaking the mold. Sometimes I bore myself drawing these, so I have to think of ways to push my boundaries. Plus this is plain pissed off, and somehow pissed off is my natural facial expression, even if I'm laughing on the inside (which I usually am)

From January 2010, Photoshop. I was experimenting with texture brushes and I liked the lighting.

May 2010, Photoshop. The more I look at it, the weirder I think the purple is, but the texture was a fun discovery. One of my friends asked me if I had done a self portrait with the vest I have on here before. At the time, I hadn't, so this followed.

June 2010, Photoshop. I cut out the center of my beard shortly after graduation, so I could have the 19th century gentleman look. This one was surprisingly quick, only an hour, where the rest of these are at least 2.

June 2010, Photoshop. I know this one isn't perfect, but it is an achievement in that I've given myself legitimate facial expression. Internet addicts should notice the resemblance to Joseph Ducreux's self portrait that backs the Archaic rap meme.
For those of you unfamiliar, it is the following...

Portrait de l'artiste sous les traits d'un moqueur, Joseph Ducreux, 1793
